PERSECUTION - August 2007

Egypt: FEMALE CONVERT ATTACKED BY RELATIVES, TORTURED BY POLICE

July 16, 07.  Eman el-Sayed (26), a Christian convert from Islam, was attacked by her Muslim family members

in Alexandria and arrested by the police who then tortured her for eight days.

Eman was at a local fair with her husband when her relatives grabbed her, beat her and tried to kidnap her in a car.

They also vowed to kill her. Police intervened, claiming that they would take her into "protective custody." She was

detained at the local station where she was beaten, electrocuted on several sensitive parts of her body and photographed naked.

Egyptian law forbids a Muslim from changing religions and forbids a Muslim woman from marrying a Christian.

Police refused to press charges against her relatives. Pray for Eman's safety and for her husband at this time.

FIFTEEN CHURCH LEADERS ARRESTED IN CHINA

CHRISTIAN MURDERED IN PAKISTAN

Patras Masih was shot and killed in Lahore in the early morning of June 27. According to a July 23 report from

Sharing Life Ministry Pakistan, Masih was working overtime at a factory when he received a cell phone call.

When he went to the main gate to meet with a Muslim colleague, he was gunned down. According to Masih's father,

the Muslim man had pressured Masih to convert one month prior to his death.

Pray that those who knew and loved Patras will know comfort, peace and boldness as deep as their grief. Pray that
Christians in Pakistan will be strengthened to follow in his example of faithfulness to Christ at all cost. (1 Corinthians 4:9-14, 16).
